Huge boost for Blackpool as iconic seaside town to get new 6m theme park ride | UK | Travel

The legendary northern seaside town of Blackpool is set to get a new theme park ride for its much-loved amusement park.

The new Gyro Swing ride looks to be a thrilling new experience and includes a circular spinning pendant that swings from side to side. The Intamin website says the ride can provide 32 or 40-passenger gondolas, with a swing angle of up to 120 degrees.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach has filed a registration of a charge with Companies House on Tuesday, which states that the new ride will be located somewhere at the park.

It reveals a loan agreement with NatWest bank, dated July 29th this year.

The description of the charge reads “Intamin Gyro swing located at Blackpool Pleasure Beach”.

It is not yet known when the ride will open, or where at BPB it will be located.

The Theme Park owner Amanda Thompson did allude to a new ride at Pleasure Beach back in March.

She said on X, formerly Twitter: “To all Pleasure Beach fans, the Grand Prix will not operate this year as we are planning a new attraction.

“Don’t ask me any more questions about this, I will tell you when I have made the decision.”

If the rumours are true and Blackpool does get the new Intamin Gyro Swing, it could be similar to the one currently at Drayton Manor, which is the only ride of its kind in the UK. The ride opened in 2002 but is smaller than what is rumoured to be coming to Blackpool.

The news of the new addition to Blackpool’s theme park will no doubt excite thrill seekers across the country, but especially locals in Blackpool as it will be expected to give the town a much-needed boost.
