Luke Weaver had been a top prospect with the Cardinals back in the day. He was a first-round pick who was in the big leagues as a starting pitcher by age 22 in 2016. He was panning out the next year going 7-2 with a 3.88 ERA in 13 outings, 10 of them starts.
