House of the Dragon Season 2 Trailer: Targaryen civil war erupts as Rhaenyra and Daemon seek revenge to take down Alicent Hightower to avenge Lucerys’ death
The trailer delivers a scorching glimpse into the future of Westeros. Alliances crumble, betrayals fester, and the Targaryen dynasty faces an existential threat. Emma D’Arcy reprises her role as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, fueled by grief and a burning desire for revenge after the tragic death of her son, Lucerys. Matt Smith returns as the cunning Prince Daemon Targaryen, undoubtedly by her side. Opposing them is Queen Alicent Hightower, played by Olivia Cooke, determined to secure the throne for her son, Aegon II.
Visually, the trailer is a spectacle. Dragons take flight in breathtaking sequences, their fiery breath illuminating the vast landscapes of Westeros. The production quality is top-notch, transporting viewers to this perilous world filled with power struggles and looming war.
Season 1 concluded with a dramatic escalation. Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, on her dragon, unexpectedly crashed Aegon II’s coronation. She chose not to attack but instead headed to Dragonstone to join forces with Rhaenyra. This act foreshadowed the inevitable – a brutal civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons. The death of Lucerys at the hands of Prince Aemond and his dragon Vhagar further stoked the flames of conflict. With vengeance coursing through her veins, Rhaenyra seems prepared to unleash her fury.
Several familiar faces grace the screen in the trailer. Rhys Ifans returns as Otto Hightower, Alicent’s scheming father, while Eve Best portrays the formidable Princess Rhaenys Targaryen. Ewan Mitchell takes on the role of the ambitious Prince Aemond, while Steve Toussaint brings Lord Corlys Velaryon to life. We can also expect to see the return of Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole, Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria, and Graham McTavish as Ser Harrold Westerling.
Newcomers join the cast as well, including Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, and Tom Taylor as the legendary Lord Cregan Stark. House of the Dragon continues to expand the world of Westeros, introducing characters who will undoubtedly play pivotal roles in the upcoming war.
JioCinema, the Indian streaming platform, has announced that House of the Dragon season 2 will premiere on their platform starting June 17th. Episodes will be available in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, and Marathi, dropping weekly alongside the US release.
