Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is no stranger in politics as he is one of the most prominent leaders in South Africa, and a sheer force to be reckoned with.
Ndlozi was “brought into political consciousness” after a personal experience, which ignited his passion for this field and propelled him to heights he himself might never have imagined. Here’s all to know about his qualifications, career and net worth.
MBUYISENI NDLOZI’S BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS
Mbuyiseni Quintin Ndlozi was born in 1985. He attended Khutlo-Tharo Secondary School in the Vaal in Gauteng. SABC NEWS reported in 2017 that he won the Young Communicator Award, winning a study grant of R10 000.
Ndlozi earned a PhD in Political Sociology at the University of Witwatersrand in 2017. He also reportedly started his humanities degree at the same university in 2004.

According to Ndlozi’s profile on the People’s Assembly website, he got involved in politics at a young age. He’s reported as saying that he “was brought into political consciousness in 1992. This was after his uncle was imprisoned by the apartheid police “for his involvement in the underground activities of the liberation movement.”
He also shared how he got involved in mainstream politics as a youth. “My own political participation in mainstream politics came later in the form of participation in youth movements.” He was part of the South African Students Congress, the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) and the Young Communist League (YCL). The political activist served in the Palestinian and Cuban international solidarity movements and involved in the “No Obama Campaign” in 2013.
Ndlozi quickly earned the name the ‘People’s Bae’ when he joined the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). The South African reported in 2018 that he was named the Most Influential Young South African for 2017.
As of 2024, he is a member and EFF party whip at National Assembly. He is also a member in three National Assembly Committees; Alternate Member at National Assembly Rules Committee, Powers and Privileges of Parliament and Portfolio Committee on Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation.
He became the youngest member of EFF when he joined the party, and their National Spokesperson. His future at EFF is currently uncertain as there have been rumours of him leaving for an opposition party. He also hasn’t attended their third National People’s Assembly (NPA) conference this year.
NDLOZI’S NET WORTH
Glusea website reported in mid-2024 that Ndlozi is one of the most successful politicians in South Africa. His net worth is currently estimated at $2 million, which is around R35.7 million.
