Boney Kapoor responded to Arshad Warsi’s claims on getting less fees in the ’90s: “Arshad was paid Rs. 25,000 per day, which amounted to Rs. 75,000 for the three days of work”.
Actor Arshad Warsi recently opened up in an interview about an incident from his early career that sparked curiosity. He claimed that he was underpaid for choreographing a song in Boney Kapoor’s 1993 film Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja. Arshad stated that he had agreed to do the job for Rs. 1 lakh, estimating that it would take four days to complete the shoot. However, he managed to finish it in just three days, expecting to receive the full amount as agreed. Instead, he was paid Rs. 75,000, with the explanation that he was paid per day, and the reduced days meant a reduced payment.
Boney Kapoor, responding to these claims, found them amusing and clarified that Arshad was paid Rs. 25,000 per day, which amounted to Rs. 75,000 for the three days of work. He also mentioned that Arshad was not a star then, questioning the claim that he was promised such a large sum. Boney further noted that Arshad never brought this issue up before, even when they appeared together on a TV show with Malaika Arora and Farah Khan.

He told Bollywood Hungama, “I read his statement and found it amusing. This happened in 1992, and he’s bringing it up now. At that time, he was not a star; who would have paid him such a huge amount? I didn’t even remember this episode. It wasn’t like he was promised a certain amount. He was paid according to the number of days worked.”
Pankaj Parashar, the director of the film, added that while he wasn’t involved in the financial dealings, it was he who completed the shoot in three days, not Arshad. He suggested there was no need to make an issue out of it and seemed unfazed by the claims.
This incident has brought attention to the challenges and misunderstandings that can occur in the film industry, especially when it comes to payments and expectations.
