Harris holds 3-point national lead over Trump: Survey

Vice President Harris has a 3-point advantage over former President Trump nationally with two weeks until Election Day, according to a new survey.

The poll, released Tuesday by Reuters/Ipsos, shows Harris leading Trump with 46 percent support to 43 percent. The Democratic nominee’s lead was unchanged, 45 percent to 42 percent, compared to the previous iteration of the poll conducted last week. 

The survey also found that immigration, economy and threats to democracy were among the top issues for likely voters going into November.

The former president led on immigration, 48 percent to 35 percent, and economy, 46 percent to 38 percent, according to the poll. Harris had an edge over her GOP rival on the issue of threats to democracy by 7 points, 42 percent to 35 percent. The vice president was also ahead on health care and abortion, per the survey. 

Immigration was the top issue voters said the winner should devote themself to in the first 100 days in the Oval Office, garnering 35 percent support. Income inequality, 11 percent, and taxes and health care, 10 percent, followed.

Approximately 70 percent of registered voters said the cost of living was on the wrong track, while 65 percent said immigration and 60 percent picked the state of the economy, according to the data.

Over the weekend, Trump overtook Harris in The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s (DDHQ) election forecast for the first time, with the model predicting the GOP nominee with a 52 percent chance of winning in November. The likelihood of Harris winning was at 48 percent.

The Democratic nominee currently has a 1.2 percent lead, 49 percent to 47.8 percent, over Trump nationally, The Hill/DDHQ’s polling index shows.

The Reuters/Ipsos survey was conducted Oct. 15-21 among 4,129 voters in the U.S., including 3,481 registered voters. It has a margin of error of 2 percentage points.
