The thing about Hailey Bieber is that she’ll stick with one manicure motif for weeks on end — typically her now-signature glazed donut nails — and just when you’ve gotten comfortable, she switches it up with something completely unexpected. That’s exactly what the Rhode founder did for weekend one of Coachella, swapping the frosty finish in favor of bright teal green nails that could probably be seen from outer space.
For the much-anticipated event in the desert, Bieber’s manicurist Zola Ganzorigt put aside the OPI Tin Man Can chrome powder and picked up a vivid turquoise cream instead, painting Bieber’s almond-shaped nails in a few coats of the as-yet-unrevealed shade. At first, it appeared to be a simple cream manicure, but there was a surprise hidden in the layers of polish. The nails weren’t just eye-poppingly colorful — they also glowed in the dark, as Bieber revealed on her Instagram Stories.

If there’s any place for neon turquoise glow-in-the-dark nails, it’s Coachella. Attendees are apt to wear rainbow-colored wigs, drench themselves in body jewelry and glitter, and go all out with their glam. Fans immediately flooded Ganzorigt’s comments asking her to share the polish(es) behind Bieber’s alien chic mani, with some speculating it could be OPI’s I’m Yacht Leaving, a summery turquoise, or Cactus What You Preach, paired with a glow-in-the-dark top coat. China Glaze’s Nail Lacquer in Too Yacht to Handle or Nails Inc Plant Power Nail Polish in Just Avaca-do It also look similar, but fingers crossed Ganzorigt reveals the secrets of this outer space shade. Ganzorigt’s work made a few appearances at the festival, including performer Sabrina Carpenter, who wore a subtle metallic mani onstage.
Bieber’s nails were front and center at the festival, as her skin care brand Rhode set up a photo booth on the grounds and she hopped in to take a few pics, Rhode lip gloss phone case in hand. TBD if she’s attending the second weekend of the event, but if she does, we have no doubt that her nails will be the star of the show.
