Gunfire heard near the presidency of Chad’s capital, military vehicles seen

N’DJAMENA (Reuters) -Bursts of gunfire rang out near the presidency in Chad’s capital N’Djamena on Wednesday evening, two residents in the area told Reuters.

Convoys of military vehicles were seen driving towards the presidential headquarters of the central African country, they said.

The authorities have made no immediate comment. AFP, citing a security source, said that armed men had attacked the interior of the presidential compound.

“I am stuck at Place de Nation in front of the presidency, because I hear intense gunfire and military vehicles coming from all directions,” said one of the residents, Abbas Mahamout Seid.
