Greggs issues urgent steak bake recall and warns customers ‘do not consume’

Greggs, who sell their products in various stores, including Iceland, has issued an urgent recall.

The bakery is recalling its Greggs 2 Pack Steak Bake, exclusive to Iceland.

The product contains Sausage, Bean and Cheese Melts, resulting in sulphites not being declared.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said this makes the product a possible health risk for anyone with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites.

This two-pack product is exclusive to Iceland, and therefore, the recall is only applicable to products purchased from those stores.

Greggs reassured customers that no other products or date codes of batches are affected.

Product details:

Item: Greggs 2 Pack Steak Bake

Pack Size: 280g, 2 Steak Bakes in a pack

Best Before: May 19, 2025

Greggs said: “We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you have any queries please contact Customer Care on +44 08081 473 447 or [email protected].”

The FSA added: “If you have bought the above product and have a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites do not consume it.

“Instead return it to your nearest Iceland store from where it was bought for a full refund.”

In other food recall news, Lidl Northern Ireland recently recalled a batch of Deluxe Sriracha Cheddar Cheese Wedge.

This was because Listeria monocytogenes were found in the product, making it unsafe to eat.

Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include a high temperature, chills as well as being sick.
