Google Doodle Celebrates Singer KK
It was on this day in 1996 that KK made his debut as a singer in the Hindi film industry. On October 25, 1996, KK sang his first song for the movie Maachis. The late singer provided his vocals for the popular song ‘Chod Aaye Hum’ from Gulzar’s political thriller. In the animated doodle, Kumar is holding his mic the way he used to while singing.
When clicked on the doodle, it redirects us to a page where Google has praised the singer for his incredible work. The content reads, “This Doodle celebrates Krishnakumar Kunnath, also known as KK, a successful Indian playback singer most known for his versatility. He is widely remembered for recording songs in several languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, and Gujarati.”
After the Chod Aaye Hum song, what helped KK gain popularity is the song Tadap Tadap, from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. The movie stars Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Ajay Devgn in the lead roles. Since then, he has more than 700 songs in his singing career. The later singer lent his voice for at least 3500 jingles in various languages.
KK was loved for his powerful and soulful voice, full of emotions. Some of his most loved tracks are Zara Si, Beetin Lamhe, Khuda Jaane, Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai, Ankhon Mein Teri, and many more. The singer died at the age of 53 of a heart attack in May 2022 after his performance.
