Thalapathy Vijay’s much-anticipated film, GOAT, aka The Greatest of All Time, hit theatres today, marking a major moment in the Tamil superstar’s career. Known for his massive fan following and his impressive box office hits, Vijay has built a legacy in Tamil cinema over the years. With GOAT, the actor is preparing to step away from the big screen, as it is his second-to-last film before he shifts focus to politics.
The film’s director, Venkat Prabhu, shared his thoughts on the project, describing it as a celebration of Vijay’s career. While talking to NDTV, Venkat mentioned that he treated GOAT like a farewell film, ensuring it would be something special for both the star and his audience. Prabhu explained that his goal was to create a joyful cinematic experience that would feel like a party for viewers, saying, “For general audience, it will be like a celebration for cinema. I have tried to make it look different from his previous films. He has played older roles even in a film called Bigil. He has done father and a son role. In this film, there are lot of things in combination. It’s a complete film. We even used de-ageing technology to show two versions of Vijay in the film.”
Further in this entertainment news piece, the excitement surrounding the film is shared by Vijay’s co-star, Premgi, who plays the role of Sneha’s brother in GOAT. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Premgi spoke enthusiastically about the film’s potential, predicting that it could earn ₹1500 crore globally. According to the actor, the movie is packed with surprises and will delight Thalapathy’s fans. He also expressed his support for Vijay’s upcoming political journey and said, “I will vote for him in 2026. I guarantee you that Vijay will become the chief minister of Tamil Nadu in 2026. Wait and watch.”
