Thalapathy Vijay’s The Greatest Of All Time, aka The GOAT, has made a strong debut with Rs 43 crore at the Indian box office on day 1 – Check detailed earning report!
GOAT Box Office Collection Day 1: Thalapathy Vijay’s The Greatest of All Time, or GOAT, did a respectable business at the box office. Tamil superstar’s supremacy at the box office has been solidified by the movie’s opening-day box office receipts in India. On its opening day, the movie brought in an impressive Rs 43 crore at the domestic box office. The majority of this revenue was generated by its Tamil shows, which took in Rs 38.3 crore.
Due in large part to the film’s emotive significance, theatres around the country saw packed houses for many of their performances. When Thalapathy Vijay, their idol, appeared on the big screen for the second-to-last time, fans showered the screen with affection. It wasn’t the 50 crore threshold on opening day, which was disappointing given the fanfare around it.
GOAT vs Stree 2 Box Office Collection
Stree 2 saw a few special opening premieres for Stree 2, grossing Rs 8.35 crore and crossing the Rs 50 crore mark on the first day. The horror comedy has surpassed the Hindi version of Kalki 2898 AD, the film starring Deepika Padukone and Prabhas. On the first day of its release in India, the Hindi version of the sci-fi actioner brought in a total of Rs 22.5 crore. Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s film also beat Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter, which took in Rs 22.5 crore on its first day of release
However, the GOAT has officially achieved the largest Kollywood opening of 2024 by surpassing Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 (26 crores). The movie has become, worldwide as well, the largest Tamil debut of the year by a wide margin.
About Thalapathy Vijay’s GOAT
GOAT, which also stars Prabhu Deva, Yogi Babu, Meenakshi Chaudhary, and Prashanth, among others, is aiming to recreate Thalapathy Vijay’s box office record. Reviews from viewers were conflicting when the movie debuted. Others criticized the movie for having a very thin plot, while some praised his performance in a dual role.
Due to the producers’ disregard for the theatrical guidelines, the movie was not distributed in national multiplex chains. These rules require all new Hindi film producers to keep an 8-week buffer between their theatrical debut and OTT platform launch. In South Indian markets, the non-Hindi versions of the film have been released by PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis.
