This March, Giant-Size Spider-Gwen #1 continues to redefine the Ghost Spider’s journey. The issue, part of Marvel’s 50th anniversary celebration for the Giant-Size format, comes from Melissa Flores and Alba Glez. Together, the duo is bringing danger to Gwen Stacy’s home dimension. This danger consists of a new band of supervillains that make up Earth-65’s own version of the Sinister Six. One member of this new group of baddies is a new version of the classic Spider-Man villain Doc Ock.
Giant-Size Spider-Gwen
The upcoming Giant-Size Spider-Gwen #1 comes right off Melissa Flores’ Spider-Gwen limited series, Spider-Gwen: Smash. It finds a Gwen Stacy that is managing to balance the hero life with her personal life. However, as the hero settles back into a routine in her home dimension, Earth-65, an old “friend” is about to pay a visit. Stacy’s bandmate, Mary Jane, becomes the host to the remains of the Carnage symbiote. This attracts the attention of some unfortunate foes.
The adopted son of Dr, Octopus, Orlando Octavius, gets a whiff of this symbiote and sets his sights on Mary Jane. Now, Spider Ghost will have to save her friend from a new Doc Ock and the villains he brings with him. Speaking about Giant-Size Spider-Gwen #1, Flores shared her excitement at continuing Stacy’s journey. Especially the opportunity to continue to develop the personal relationships introduced in Spider-Gwen: Smash.
