Poached eggs make for a versatile addition to breakfasts and a variety of dishes, but many people are yet to find the right technique needed to make them.
While it may seem straightforward to simmer eggs in a pan, getting the temperature and timing correct can be quite the task and mistakes can lead to eggs that are overcooked or whispy.
A popular method suggests adding vinegar to the pan before cracking in the egg to aid the poaching process. However, one cook has revealed that this step is not necessary.
Dana Rebecca (@danarebeccadesigns) took to TikTok to give an insight into her mother’s simple method for poaching eggs that does not require vinegar or even a pan.
The content creator claimed that she has recently discovered a cooking method that will get you a “perfect poached egg” every time without much hassle – all you need is a small bowl and microwave.
All you need to do is crack an egg into a small bowl and add enough water to cover the yolk before placing it in the microwave.
The cooking time will vary depending on your microwave and needs to be determined through “trial and error,” according to Dana’s mother.
Typically, it takes between 36 to 45 seconds, and for Dana’s mother, the perfect poached egg is ready in exactly 44 seconds.
Dana said: “It can generally go between 36 and 45 seconds, then out comes the perfect poached egg.”
Once she removed it from the microwave, Dana’s mother placed the poached egg on a plate and cut into it, revealing a perfectly springy egg with a jammy, runny, golden yolk inside.
In the comments, online users were in awe of the results that came out of such a simple technique. One user remarked that it would be a “game-changer” for cooking eggs perfectly.
One popular comment pointed out: “Perfect! No more dirty pan for one egg.” One person commented: “OMG!!! It worked! Thank you!”
Another user said: “I have been doing this for a long time and it’s the only way I know how to get a poached egg right every time.”
