A FUTURISTIC smartphone has been unveiled without any apps on it instead relying entirely on AI.
The strange concept is being pitched as an “AI concierge” that does practically anything a smartphone can for you, largely using voice.
Instead of browsing through apps, the AI phone – officially dubbed the T Phone – magically creates interfaces as they’re requested.
The handset is just a concept for the moment but developers Deutsche Telekom, in corporation with leading chip maker Qualcomm and Brain.ai, hope it could pave the way for an app-free future.
All you have to do is tap an AI icon on the home screen or the power button and the tech will get to work.
An early version of the handset was shown off at a major event in Barcelona this week.
In the demonstration, we see how a user can ask the AI to book a flight or find gifts for a loved one.
It can also generate images and share them to social media for you.
According to PC Mag, some apps are actually on the smartphone but only the AI can interact with them.
“Smartphones brought us the apps that we love today,” said Sean Seaton, from Deutsche Telekom.

“Up until now, apps were key for smartphone experiences.
“Today we usher in a brand new era with a visionary AI experience that will change the way we look at devices, in particular smartphones, forever.
“How we experience them, how we interact with them, again keeping users at the centre of controlling their experience.”
Earlier, company chief Tim Hoettges said that in five to ten years from now “nobody from us will use apps anymore”.
At the same event Qualcomm – the company behind new Manchester United shirt sponsor Snapdragon – revealed how smartphones will soon feature turbocharged 5G and Wi-Fi with its new systems and chips.
