Frontier Airlines is launching twice-weekly, nonstop flights between Denver and Eagle County Regional Airport — just over 30 miles from Vail Ski Resort — this December, the airline announced Tuesday.
The first Eagle-County-bound flight will take off from Denver International Airport on Dec. 19, marking the first time Frontier has landed in the county, according to a news release from the airline.
“We are excited for this new opportunity to partner with Frontier,” director of aviation at Eagle County Regional Airport David Reid said. “It’s such a great opportunity for our local community.”
Reid said the partnership was years in the making and had been in progress at least since he started his position at the airport five years ago.
“The industry is always changing and adapting,” Reid said. “… This happened to be when the time was right.”
Eagle County Regional Airport currently boasts largely seasonal flights from Alaska Airlines, Delta, United, and American Airlines. United’s flight between DIA and Eagle County and American Airlines’ flight between Dallas, Texas and Eagle County are the only two flights offered year-round on the regional airport’s roster.
“Whether the ideal getaway is lounging under a palm tree in California or enjoying the world-class skiing of the Rockies, our new service will connect consumers in the Denver area and beyond with travel options that make it easy and affordable to get there,” Frontier Airlines spokesperson Josh Flyr said in the release.
For now, flights between DIA and Eagle County are scheduled to be offered through the summer, according to Reid. It will be up to Frontier if the flights continue after that and whether they’ll be offered seasonally or year-round.
To celebrate the new route, Frontier is offering low, introductory fares, airline officials said in the release. Flights between Denver and Eagle County will start at $99 for people booking travel between Dec. 12 and Feb. 25, 2025.
However, the introductory fares do not apply to a few blackout periods, including Dec. 21 to Dec. 31, Jan. 1 to Jan. 7, Feb. 13 to Feb. 14 and Feb. 16 to Feb. 17, according to Frontier’s news release.
With this new Colorado destination and another Frontier route to be added between DIA and Palm Springs International Airport, Frontier will officially serve 65 destinations from Denver.
