President of India Droupadi Murmu noted him as a student leader first and then a leader in national politics. “Though a committed ideologue, he won friends cutting across the party lines. My heartfelt condolences to his family and colleagues,” she wrote through a post on X.
Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi were among the many leaders who took to X over the tragic incident. Rahul called him a ‘friend’ and a ‘Protector of the idea of India.’
On the other hand, Priyanka said Yechury’s death is a profound loss.“The passing away of Shri Sitaram Yechury is a profound loss for all of us. His years of service and devotion to our country is worthy of the greatest respect. Most of all, he was an inherently decent human being who brought a sense of balance and gentleness to the harsh world of politics. May his soul rest in peace and may his loved ones find the strength and courage to face this tragedy,” she wrote on her X post.
Congress leaders Siddaramaiah, Jairam Ramesh, and Sachin Pilot sent their condolences through posts on X as well; while Pawan Khera spoke about it to news agency PTI.
“Sitaram Yechury ji has made significant contributions to the politics of the country. His absence will be felt by all. He was determined towards his ideologies but never spoke ill about anyone. He was a great orator, MP, and a great person. We will never forget you Sitaram ji,” he said.
Other INDIA bloc alliance members also grieved the death of the CPI(M) leader through their own X posts honouring Yechury.

Bengal CM and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, like Priyanka Gandhi, also expressed that the leader’s death is a loss for national politics.
Several BJP leaders also came together on X to send their condolences at the former Rajya Sabha member’s death. From Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Piyush Goyal, Nitin Gadkari, Kiren Rijiju and Hardeep Singh Puri to Tamil Nadu CM Chandrababu Naidu and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik – all took to X to express their sadness.
