Cricketers live extravagant lifestyles, with many owning some of the world’s most exclusive luxury cars.
The Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon is more than just a car; it’s a statement of opulence combined with military toughness.
The G-Wagon is a benchmark for all modern luxury Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs), from its unrivalled off-road capabilities to a luxurious cabin experience.
Cricket players typically enjoy their opulent lifestyles to the fullest outside of the 22-yard circle, with many of them owning some of the most exclusive luxury vehicles in existence. Additionally, in recent years, cricket players have increasingly opted for Mercedes-Benz G-Wagons.
The following well-known cricket players are among the many admirers of Mercedes-Benz’s flagship and hardcore off-road luxury SUV worldwide:
Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya, the star Indian cricketer, never misses an opportunity to show off his G-Wagon. He purchased a Mojave Silver-coloured Mercedes-Benz G 63 a few years ago, which also features a custom red-themed interior. The base variant is priced above Rs 1.50 crore and is powered by a 4.0 litre bi-turbo V8 petrol engine generating 585 bhp and 850 Nm of peak torque, replacing the older 5.5-litre unit. As per reports, the cricketer was seen leaving the stadium in his G-Wagon with his brother Krunal Pandya after the World Cup 2023.
Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer is another cricketer on this list who owns a Mercedes-AMG G 63. He has the same SUV as Hardik Pandya, which is a Mojave Silver. The right-handed middle-order batsman has outfitted his G-Wagon with a Brabus kit, making it a more potent off-road machine.
Jos Buttler
Jos Buttler, the explosive batsman from England, has a G-Wagon of his own back home. Jos Buttler is said to own both a BMW X2 and the venerable Mercedes-Benz SUV G-Wageon, though few specifics about the cricketer’s vehicle are known.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, arguably the most successful captain in Indian cricket history, already has the best car and motorcycle collection of any sportsperson in the country. The former Indian cricket team captain recently added a Magnetite Black Mercedes-AMG G 63, which was recently seen in a viral social media video of him driving the G-Wagon. Dhoni has added a new black G63 AMG G-Wagon with the registration plate 0007 to his extensive collection of exotic vehicles.
With a rich history spanning decades, the G-Wagon is without a doubt one of the most recognisable SUVs of the modern era. The only Mercedes-Benz model built on a ladder-on-frame chassis is the classic luxury SUV. Additionally, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 and Mercedes-Benz G 400d are the two G-Wagon models available in the Indian auto market and both vehicles run on petrol.
