Former Kaizer Chiefs star returning to SA?

It has not been that long time since Kaizer Chiefs and local football said goodbye to Khama Billiat. New reports suggest the former Premier Soccer League Player of the Season may come back.

CAPE TOWN CITY TO SIGN KHAMA BILLIAT

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr, has given the latest update on Itumeleng Khune‘s unclear future.

Soon after Kaizer Chiefs shockingly parted ways with Billiat two seasons ago, the 33-year-old trained with City before returning to Zimbabwe to sign for Yadah FC. With seven goals and five assists in the past 12 games, the Citizens and Tanzanian giants Young Africans are reportedly keen to sign Billiat.

“Khama Billiat of Yadah FC 🇿🇼 is linked to Cape Town City 🇿🇦 and Young Africans 🇹🇿,” Unplayable reported.

KAIZER CHIEFS WILLING TO KEEP ITUMELENG KHUNE

From a certain view, the picture has been clear. Amakhosi are not willing to offer Khune a new playing contract, though the club wants to keep the 37-year-old inside the club in a different role. However, there is a problem, Khune is firmly determined to continue playing.

“I think as time goes on, we will be able to divulge more information. From the start of the season with Itu (Khune), we sat down and spoke, I think we released a statement as far as his playing contract, we had assessed everything,” the club’s Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr said as quoted by the Citizen.

“We have sat down with Itu and we see him playing a very, very valuable role within this institution. I mean, he has contributed tremendously to this institution.

“He is a living legend. I think he has a lot to offer, whether it’s academy players, senior players, in various roles, so I think as time goes on, we will be able to divulge what the next step is with Itu,” the former Kaizer Chiefs striker concluded.

YOUNG AFRICANS MATCH

In the meantime, the Toyota Cup friendly match will take place on Sunday at the Free State Stadium. Amakhosi have since confirmed that the tickets for the event have been sold out.

“Tickets for the Toyota Cup match between Kaizer Chiefs and Young Africans have been sold out!,” Amakhosi reported.

“The match will take place at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on Sunday, kick-off is at 15:00. Supporters are urged to arrive early at the stadium to avoid delays. There will be pre-match entertainment, including performances by artists, and a game between BC Legends and Kaizer Chiefs legends, starting at 12:30.
