A FLIGHT attendant has spilled the beans on how to bag the best in-flight meal service.
Choosing your seat on a plane might be more important than it seems, according to Cathay Pacific flight attendant Joyce Chan.
Joyce told Delicious Magazine: “Often meal service will begin at the front of the cabin and progress to the back. Choosing a seat towards the front may increase your likelihood of being served earlier.”
She explains that if you sit near the front of the plane you are more likely to get what you want because Economy class does not have the option of pre-selecting their meal option.
Typically in Economy class the choice will be between a meat and vegetarian dish.
If you’re veggie and sat at the back of the plane, fingers crossed the last veggie meal has not already been served.
So, if inflight food is important to you, flying near the front will enhance your chances of getting the meal you want and avoid you going hungry.
On the other hand, cookbook editor and frequent traveller Melissa Leong believes holidaymakers should bring their own food onto a flight.
Melissa told Escape: “I’m here to tell you nobody cares if you bring your own food.”
She recommends bringing yogurts and frozen smoothies that are under 100ml, or perhaps some sweet and savoury snacks.
A few sweet and savoury ideas could be dark chocolate, dates, or veggie snacks.
“Our taste buds do a number of things in the air, and it’s always a good idea to pick both options to keep you sated”, suggests Melissa.
