Research from the Haleon Global Pain Index reveals that six in ten Australians report a significant decrease in their quality of life due to pain. Many experience feelings of social isolation because of pain.
That could be because pain has impacted their ability to work as they’d like, to get enough sleep, to be present at social and family interactions or do simple things like move and exercise.
3. Paracetamol is a go-to pain reliever
One in seven Australians reach for paracetamol as a first choice when it comes to managing their everyday pain, a 2024 survey by YouGov found.
Of course, it’s always important to read the labels and follow directions for use, as incorrect use could be harmful. And if pain persists, consult a healthcare professional.
4. Suitability matters
Another big reason Australians opt for paracetamol is how suitable it is for a range of different types of pain.
Paracetamol is effective for headaches, toothaches, muscle aches and period pain, and can reduce fever when we’re battling a cold or flu.
That’s why 67 per cent of Australians say suitability is the reason paracetamol is their first choice for managing everyday pain, 2023 Haleon research shows.
Again, it’s always important to read the labels and follow directions for use, as incorrect use could be harmful. And if pain persists, consult a healthcare professional.
5. Healthcare professionals are there to help
It’s always beneficial to get an outside perspective on ongoing pain. If you’re experiencing pain of any kind, it’s easy to get assistance. Book an appointment with your GP to start a conversation – or even just have a chat to your local pharmacist.
With so many Australians experiencing pain, you won’t be the only one accessing help.
Always read the label and follow the directions for use. Incorrect use could be harmful.
