In a major milestone for the Noida International Airport under construction in Jewar, Greater Noida, aircraft testing operations are set to begin in a matter of hours. Starting November 15, planes will begin landing on the newly-constructed runway as part of a rigorous testing phase that will run through mid-December. The airport is taking significant steps toward its full operational launch, with commercial flights expected to take off in April 2025.

Testing Phase to Start Soon

The airport’s testing process will begin in just three days, with numerous empty aircraft from various airlines scheduled to land on the runway for crucial evaluations. These trials will take place between November 15 and December 15, 2024. During this period, aircraft will undergo various flight tests, including multiple landings on the runway.

On November 30, the airport will witness a significant event: aircraft carrying passengers will land at the airport for the first time. However, in order to ensure safety and compliance with aviation standards, the Noida International Airport Authority must secure the necessary permissions from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) by November 25.

Special Training Operations to Begin by November 30

As part of this process, a special training session is scheduled for November 30. On that day, a variety of aircraft types, including commercial airliners, will land at the airport. Key industry players, including passengers, aviation experts, and representatives from various airlines, will observe the event.

“We are on track to start testing the runway and the aircraft landing procedures from November 15,” said the CEO of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) in an interview with Local 18. “On November 30, we will be conducting a special training session with different aircraft, and this will include both simulated and real-life training scenarios.”

Full Commercial Operations to Begin by April 2025

The much-anticipated commercial operations at Noida International Airport are slated to begin in April 2025, marking a significant step forward in aviation sector. The airport, which will serve as a major hub for both domestic and international flights, is expected to handle 30 flights on its opening day. This includes 25 domestic flights, three international flights, and two cargo flights.

International Destinations and First Flights

The CEO confirmed that the first international flights from Noida International Airport will head to Dubai and Singapore. Partnerships with major global airlines, including Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines, have already been finalised for these inaugural routes. These flights are set to take off on April 17 2025, marking the official start of commercial services at the airport.

Ticket Bookings Open 90 Days Before Operations

In preparation for the launch of commercial flights, ticket bookings for the first flights are expected to open 90 days prior to the commencement of operations, which means passengers can begin securing tickets as early as January 2025. The airport management has confirmed that all necessary systems for ticketing and booking will be fully operational ahead of the launch.
