‘Fighter’ starring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor has now managed to do what was expected from it. The trade experts felt that the film should end up making Rs 100 crore in the first four days, in order to be considered a hit. Though, ‘Fighter’ had a slow start on its opening day and made around Rs 22 crore, what worked in its favour is how it saw a huge jump on Republic Day and made Rs 39.5 crore.
However, ‘Fighter’ didn’t sustain to its Rs 30 crore and above mark on Saturday and Sunday. It almost had the same business on both the days. As per Sacnilk.com, the film made Rs 28.5 crore on Sunday which is just Rs 1 crore more than the Sunday figures. The total collection of the film so far in India is Rs 118 crore. So, with that, it has scored much more than just 100 crore. Though, more was expected from a movie like this. But it had seen a dip in mass centres from Saturday onwards.
The weekday numbers now will play a crucial role, especially after the Sunday numbers which were not in the range of Rs 35-40 crore which it should have been. The positive word of mouth continues to remain and hence, the weekday numbers are expected to be decent. The good news for the makers is that ‘Fighter’ has done a lot better overseas and emerged as a hit. The shows in US and Canada have seen a a huge jump on Saturday and Sunday as per boxofficeindia.com. This perhaps has got to do with the fact that a song from the film which was cut by the CBFC in India is there in the overseas version of the movie. Moreover, the film is expected to get a release in UAE next week, and get cleared from the censor board on Monday.
