In an official release, Ambala police said that since February 13, continuous efforts are being made by farmers’ unions to break the barricades put up at Shambhu border in connection with the call of march to Delhi.
“Daily attempts are being made to spoil the law and order by pelting stones at the police administration and by creating ruckus. During this period, a lot of damage has been caused to government and private property by the hooligans. The damage caused to government and private property by the agitators is being assesses”, said Ambala police.
The police said proceedings have been initiated under the National Security Act (NSA) 1980, against main office-bearers of farmer unions and protestors.
The administration had already informed/alerted the general public in this regard that if the agitators caused damage to government and private property during this movement, then this loss would be compensated by seizing their property and bank accounts.
“In this regard, action is being taken by the administration against the agitators and office-bearers of the (farmer) unions. If any common man has suffered any loss of property during this movement, he can give details of the loss to the administration”, said the Ambala police.As of now, it remains unclear which government or public assets have been harmed by the protesting farmers. Since February 13, the Ambala police have prevented the protesting farmers from crossing into Haryana via the Shambhu border. They have maintained distance using tear gas, rubber bullets, water cannons, and multiple layers of barricades.One the first day, the farmers had removed only one layer of concrete block barricading and pulled the blocks to the Punjab side.
