Swara Bhasker and Fahad Ahmad, who tied the knot in February last year, are now parents to a baby girl named Raabiyaa. In a recent episode of Amrita Rao and Anmol’s podcast ‘Couple of Things,’ the duo opened up about their unique love story.
Fahad spoke about the differences between him and Swara as individuals, explaining the linguistic divide between them. He mentioned that Swara’s mother was a professor at JNU and her father was a respected Naval officer who also wrote columns for English newspapers. In contrast, he shared that no one in his family had passed the 10th standard, and he was the first to receive the opportunity to study, eventually completing his PhD from the Tata Institute.
He also discussed the urban-rural divide between them, mentioning that he comes from a small area in Bareilly, which isn’t even a district. Fahad noted that they practice different religions—he is a Pasmanda Muslim under the OBC category, while Swara is a Brahmin. “The only thing we have in common is our sexual orientation — we’re both straight. We’ve crossed all barriers: caste, religion, cities-villages, and class. It’s challenging but fun,” he added.

Swara chimed in, adding, “There’s one more difference. I’m older than him!” Fahad humorously noted that Swara always shares this detail, but he’s fine with it as there’s “nothing to hide.”
Their love story began with a first meeting in December 2019, where they realized they had no common interests. Despite this, their relationship flourished, and they got married. Today, they are proud parents to their 1-year-old daughter, Raabiyaa.
