Skand Thakur shines a spotlight on his latest project, Khalbali Records, where he stars alongside Ram Kapoor under the direction of National Award-winning filmmaker Devanshu Singh. The show captures the rollercoaster journey of emerging musicians as they strive to establish their identities in a competitive industry, exploring the rapid shifts between success and failure.
EXCLUSIVE: Skand Thakur relates to artists struggles in pursuit of creativity vs trends; says, “Sometimes we have to compromise on creativity”
In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Skand Thakur shared that the storyline resonated with him personally. He said, “Personally, I’ve realized that artists, regardless of their field, face numerous challenges, especially when they’re not from the industry and lack guidance. My understanding of the music industry has only expanded after appearing on the show; before that, I had limited knowledge.”
He further added, “But personally, I can relate to how, nowadays, in the pursuit of trending things, you sometimes have to compromise on creativity. People expect you to create great songs, make good films, and act well. However, sometimes the demand shifts to creating what’s trending. I think this is something I really connect with, as everything is expected to be trending these days. Also, my friends who are singers and rappers face similar challenges in their lives after the show. They want to do something creative and new, but often find themselves caught up in the trends.”
Skand revealed what motivated him to take on the role in Khalbali records. He said, “This project for me was just another audition that I always give. I auditioned and I really wanted to di it because music was very big of the show. I have a very strong connection towards music, so that was my biggest motivation. And second obviously being my director Divanshu Singh he is an National Award winning director, I really wanted to work with him. I had seen his previous work. These were two reasons that motivated me to do the show.”
On the work front, Skand is known for his significant role alongside Yami Gautam in Article 370, Skand made his acting debut on Netflix in Feels Like Ishq, portraying the love interest of Tanya Maniktala’s character.
