USING hidden Netflix codes can help you find the best Christmas movies in an instant.
All of the streaming services have packed out their libraries with festive goodness.
But it can be an absolute nightmare to track down exactly what you’re looking for.
You’ve probably seen how Netflix uses different categories that appear on your homepage – showing you very specific genres.
Well each of these genres has a code associated with it.
The problem is that all of these special Christmas genres won’t show up in your Netflix feed all at once.
But if you have a list of Netflix’s Christmas codes, you can plug them in and find exactly the sort of festive film you’d like.
The Sun has dug into Netflix’s libraries to track down some of the best and weirdest Christmas codes.
We’ve rounded them up here below – and we’ll also explain how to use them on your TV, phone, or laptop.
NETFLIX CHRISTMAS CODES LIST 2024
The Sun’s tech team has diligently checked all of these codes to make sure they work at the time of writing.
But it’s possible that some of them may be removed in the future.
So if any of them don’t work or seem to have disappeared, it probably means that Netflix has removed that category.
In any case, here’s our list of Christmas codes:
- Christmas Comedy Movies – 1474015
- Romantic Christmas Films – 1394527
- Christmas Movies – 1393372
- Feel-good Romantic Christmas Movies – 1415060

There are very likely more codes out there that we haven’t found.
And Netflix will probably add more, so if you don’t like this year’s lot then there’s always 2025.
NETFLIX CODES – THE REAL STORY
Here’s how Netflix’s Jessica Dershowitz explains the codes…
“According to Mary Bertone of Netflix’s evidence team, these codes date back to the days when Netflix was still in its DVDs-only phase.
“At the time, Netflix.com had a public-facing genre tree that linked out to all the various types of films and TV series, each of which has its own specific ID code.
“A fan scraped the genre tree for all the codes, shared the list online, and people have been using those codes (along with the thousands more that have been added since) to this day.
“New codes are being added whenever inspiration strikes.”
HOW TO USE NETFLIX CODES
There are two main ways to use Netflix codes.
The first is if you’re using something with a web browser – like a laptop or PC.
Simply tap in the following URL into your web address bar and replace the Xs at the end with the Netflix code of your choice:
If you’re watching on a TV, simply enter the code into the search bar.

However, note that you might find the odd code or two won’t work using this method.
The Sun isn’t exactly sure why – but most codes will work in the search bar, so keep trying.
