Budget supermarket Lidl is causing a stir with the introduction of its inaugural ‘Mystery Boxes’.
Launching at 10am on Thursday, August 15, each box guarantees a variety of unexpected and unique ‘Middle of Lidl’ items.
Valued at over £100 each, these limited edition boxes will be available to just 1,000 fortunate shoppers for £20 apiece.
Proceeds will go towards the NSPCC, and lucky shoppers will also have the opportunity to win bonus items worth up to £199 – doing a good deed while snagging a bargain at the same time.
The eagerly awaited boxes, inspired by the ever-popular ‘Middle of Lidl’ range, contain a variety of items.
Lucky shoppers could discover anything from a coffee machine to a ukulele, a massage gun to a crochet kit, hidden in their mystery box.
The ‘middle of Lidl’ concept has been a hit since the German chain first opened its doors in the UK in the 1990s.
As integral to the grocery shopping experience as purchasing the weekly food shop, bargain hunters can find limited-time deals on a broad selection of homewares, clothing, pet picks and more, reports the Mirror.
To make the entire experience even more thrilling, 50 of these boxes will include an additional ‘Bonus Item Coupon’, granting lucky recipients access to high-value items such as a Grillmeister Gas Barbeque or an Inflatable Stand-Up Paddle Board.
The retailer is banking on fans jumping at the chance to participate in their latest venture as the #MysteryBoxes trend continues to dominate social media, amassing a staggering 175.9M posts, according to Lidl.
