Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Tiyani Mabunda continues to show Enlightened Christian Gathering founder self-proclaimed Prophet Bushiri love despite backlash.
Mabunda now oversees one of Bushiri’s once-powerful branches as a resident pastor. Confirmed reports have it that Mabunda was appointed resident pastor of Pretoria for the Enlightened Christian Gathering in February 2023.
FORMER SUNDOWNS STAR TIYANI MABUNDA STANDS WITH BUSHIRI
No doubt the branch was Shepherd Bushiri’s stronghold before his arrest. Bushiri used to lead a congregation of thousands of followers at Pretoria Showgrounds in Clayville.
However, before his arrest in 2020, he was one of the most famous prophets in South Africa. Bushiri and his wife faced numerous charges, from money laundering to fraud. The charges were in connection with Bushiri’s multi-million investment scheme, which reportedly defrauded thousands of people.
However, the prophet fled the country after he was released on bail. Earlier this year, he revealed that South African Police officials wanted an R10 million bribe.
Since fleeing South Africa, his generals have kept the faith, with Tiyani Mabunda being the darling of many. His recent sermons have been making rounds on social media.
The sermons have gained thousands of comments and reactions since they dropped online. During his Easter service, he showed Bushiri love, whom he cherishes as a role model.
BUSHIRI PRAYERS
The pastor often takes a swipe at those who question his faith. The former Sundowns star once shared how Bushiri helped him during his career woes.
Mabunda has it that people never showed him love in his darkest hours, but Bushiri remembered him in his prayers. He asked, “Where were you when my contract was about to be terminated?” Mabunda added, “My father, Major 1, was praying for me during that phase.”
Mabunda also added, “So please leave me to be lost, brainwashed, waste my money, follow my prophet in peace and allow God to do what He said He wants to through me.”
CAREER
The former Sundowns star retired from the game in 2021 at 33 years. He started his career at Black Leopards in 2011. In 2013, he joined Mamelodi Sundowns. However, his stint was not as colourful as many thought.
Against his woes, Tiyani Mabunda joined Free State Stars on loan. However, in 2015, Pitso Mosimane recalled him, and the rest was history. He capped his illustrious career with several silverware, including five league titles.
