GERMANY became the largest country in the EU to decriminalise cannabis use earlier this week.
And a former Celtic star marked that moment with a shock goal celebration.
New rules came into force in Germany on April 1, which partially decriminalised cannabis for personal use.
It is now no longer illegal for people in the country to possess up to 25g in public, while they’re also now permitted to even grow it at home.
The news certainly seemed to catch the attention of former Celtic right-back Jeremie Frimpong.
The 23-year old scored the opening goal for Bayer Leverkusen as they thumped Fortuna Dusseldorf 4-0 in the semi-finals German Cup.
Teammate Amine Adli bagged the second goal in the convincing win.
And after one of the goals, the duo decided to celebrate in a rather unique – if not slightly shocking – fashion.
Adli mimicked rolling a joint, before ‘handing’ it to Frimpong.
The former Hoops man then pretended to ‘smoke’ it before laughing.
The clip has since gone viral across social media.
Many fans saw the funny side, but others took a dimmer view with one insisting “they shouldn’t promote that.”
Leverkusen and Frimpong are enjoying an incredible season.
With 35 games played in all competitions, Xabi Alonso’s men are still UNBEATEN.
They’re 13 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga and look set to win the league for the first time in their history.
They’re also, as mentioned, into the German Cup Final and will take on West Ham in the last eight of the Europa League.
The remarkable campaign has seen boss Alonso courted by several clubs.
Both Bayern Munich and his former club Liverpool were credited with an interest in making him manager, but the former Spain international revealed last week that he would be staying with Leverkusen.
Frimpong, meanwhile, has also been linked with a host of huge clubs as he continues his rise in the game.
