A former Boston College High School teacher and Jesuit priest was indicted by a Suffolk County grand jury on charges of raping a student between 2008 and 2009, Suffolk DA Kevin Hayden announced Wednesday.
“All teachers, and all religious officials, are figures of authority and have a professional and moral obligation to always wield that authority properly and appropriately,” Hayden said. “Our office will provide this former student continual support as this case moves forward.”
Kevin White, 62, of Weston, is charged with one count of rape and abuse of a child and was indicted Friday, the DA’s office said in a release. White was a theology teacher at Boston College High School.
White resided outside of Massachusetts from 2010 to 2021, the release stated.
The DA’s office withheld details on the case Wednesday, stating that additional information would come out at White’s arraignment.
White will be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court on June 27.
The DA’s office noted crimes against children may be reported and resources can be found by calling 911, the Children’s Advocacy Center of Suffolk County, the Child Protection Unit at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office and the DCF Child at Risk Hotline.
