Europe’s sunniest holiday destination has just three rainy days a month ‌ | Travel News | Travel

Winter in the UK can leave Britons struggling to remember what the sun looks like. If you’re in need of a little Vitamin D, a new study has found Europe’s sunniest city.

The travel experts at Planet Cruise looked at the average temperature, amount of rainfall, number of rainy days and average hours of sunlight to find the continent’s best holiday destination for sunseeking Brits.

Valencia was Europe’s sunniest winter destination with just three rainy days a month on average during the colder season.

One of Spain’s top coastal destinations, the dry city is a great choice for Britons still looking for a bit of last-minute winter sun.

Valencia’s top attractions include its state-of-the-art Oceanarium, its pretty and walkable Old Town and its famous city centre park.

The Turia Park is one of Spain’s largest urban parks and was created in the former riverbed of the river Turia.

Valencia is also close to some golden-sand beaches and the Spanish city is thought by many people to be the birthplace of paella.

Ibiza was Europe’s second sunniest destination. While the island has a reputation for partying, it has many quieter corners for Brits who’d like a little peace and quiet.

Although it’s one of Spain’s pricier holiday destinations, the island is much more affordable during the winter months.

Tenerife took third place on the list. The Canary Islands are already a leading winter destination for Britons and it’s no surprise to see the island high up in the ranking.

Valletta was the first destination outside of Spain to make the list. The Maltese capital has just seven rainy days on average.
