Commission hearings/timetable. The Conference of Presidents (EP President Metsola and political group leaders) is expected to decide on the detailed schedule for the Commissioners-designate hearings, scheduled for 4-12 November. EP leaders will also decide on the written questions that all candidates will have to answer ahead of the hearings.

The Amazon and climate change. In the afternoon, MEPs will assess with Commission Vice-President Schinas the consequences of the devastating forest fires in the Amazon and the importance of the Amazon in combating climate change.

Votes

At noon, plenary will vote on three resolutions on:

  • the case of Bülent Mumay in Türkiye;
  • the cases of unjustly imprisoned Uyghurs in China, notably Ilham Tohti and Gulshan Abbas, and
  • Iraq, notably the situation of women’s rights and the recent proposal to amend the Personal Status Law.
