Draghi report on Europe’s competitiveness

At 13.30, former ECB President and Prime Minister of Italy Mario Draghi will outline to plenary his blueprint for making Europe more competitive. A debate among MEPs will follow from 14.00.

EU support to Ukraine

Starting at 9.00, MEPs will discuss with Commission Vice-President Dombrovskis the latest developments in Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and the EU’s financial and military support to Kyiv. A resolution will be put to a vote on Thursday.

Venezuela after the presidential elections

Starting around 18.00, plenary will assess the outcome of the 28 July elections in Venezuela, with the lead opposition candidate Edmundo González having fled the country and the Maduro regime continuing to repress political dissidents. The debate with Commissioner Dalli will be wrapped up in a resolution on Thursday.

In brief

War in Gaza. The ongoing conflict and the risk of violence spiralling in the Middle East will be up for debate from around 16.30 with Commissioner Lenarčič.

Regulation of social media platforms. Starting around 11.00, MEPs will quiz Commission Vice-President Vestager about regulating online platforms and the role of the Digital Services Act in protecting democracy and freedom online.

Energy Union. From 15.30, plenary will review with Commissioner Simson the state of the energy market and the energy outlook ahead of winter.
