Increasing the energy efficiency of buildings

After the opening of the session, MEPs will debate with the Commission a new directive to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse-gas emissions from the building sector, and achieve climate neutrality by 2050. The new rules also mean more of the worst-performing buildings in the EU will undergo renovation. A final vote will take place on Tuesday.

Improving the enforcement of EU sanctions

MEPs will debate a new law with the Commission that introduces a common definition for EU sanctions violations, harmonising penalties so they are dissuasive, making it a criminal offense to provide financial services or legal advisory services that violate sanctions, and criminalising the trade in arms or dual-use items, including in cases of serious negligence. The final vote will take place on Tuesday.

Green claims: protecting consumers from being mislead

In the evening, MEPs will debate their position on new rules to verify and pre-approve green marketing claims to protect consumers from misleading ads. The so-called green claims directive defines what kind of information companies have to provide to justify their environmental marketing claims. The first reading vote will take place on Tuesday.

Protecting EU consumers against damage by defective products

In an evening debate, plenary will discuss with the Commission revamped rules ensuring consumers have access to compensation for damage caused by defective products. The new directive updates 40-year-old rules to reflect the emergence of new technologies such as AI and an increase in online shopping, including of products from outside the EU. The final vote will take place on Tuesday.
