Recipes for chocolate cake needn’t be long, difficult or even involve the use of your oven.
According to the woman behind My Fussy Eater blog and cookbook author Claire, the “most delicious and easiest ever” chocolate cake can be made in the air fryer with just “three simple ingredients”.
This may sound a little surprising as air fryers can be used to cook so many different foods but cake isn’t the first thing that typically springs to mind.
Claire said: “I’m all for recipes that are quick and easy to make and this air fryer chocolate cake has to be up there as one of the most simplest but also most delicious recipes ever!”
The chocolate cake takes just three minutes to prepare and 13 minutes to bake in the air fryer.
Ingredients
100g plain flour
300g chocolate spread
Two medium eggs
Method
The first step is to add your flour, chocolate spread and eggs to a bowl and mix together, either by hand or using an electric whisk.
Households can use a chocolate spread like Nutella or any supermarket-branded one. Claire claimed that nut-free chocolate spread also “works perfectly” too.
Next, you want to grease your cake tin really well on the bottom and on the sides using either oil or butter.
Alternatively, households can use baking parchment to line their tins before adding the chocolate cake mixture to it.
With no need to preheat the appliance, Claire recommends air frying the cake at 180 degrees for 13 minutes.
She commented: “This results in a really fudgy and gooey cake, almost the texture of a brownie.”
For those who prefer the cake to be a little firmer, claim recommends they leave it to cook for a further two to three minutes.
Leave the cake to cool fully in the tin before slicing as this makes it easier to take out.
To accompany the “absolutely delicious” chocolate cake, Claire said that she likes to serve it with Greek yoghurt and berries.
