TODAY’s Premiership clash between Dundee and Rangers has been thrown into major doubt due to ‘recent rainfall’ at Dens Park.
The huge league match could be postponed for a later date if it’s decided the turf is unsafe to play on following a pitch inspection at 9.15am.
Dundee released a statement confirming they are in contact with the SPFL over the surface ahead of the lunchtime kick-off.
It said: “Due to recent rainfall we have contacted the SPFL and they have agreed to hold a pitch inspection this morning at 9:15am.
“We will update on the outcome as soon as the referee has confirmed.”
A statement from Rangers read: “Supporters are advised there will be a 9:15am pitch inspection ahead of today’s match against Dundee.
“#RangersFC will communicate the outcome of the inspection as soon as possible afterwards.”
It’s a massive game that both clubs will want to go ahead today with just eight other league ties remaining in a jam-packed fixture calendar.
Philippe Clement’s Light Blues can retake top spot in the Premiership with a win after Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic leapfrogged their rivals with a 3-1 win against St Johnstone on Saturday.
Dundee on the other hand are aiming for a top six finish and know a shock result against the Gers could propel them into the top half ahead of Hibs before the international break.
