After its debut last week, Dragon Ball fans at NYCC were treated to a special panel focusing on the latest series, Dragon Ball Daima. It kicked off with a fan yelling, “We love you Bulma!” and Monica Rial, VA of Bulma and co-moderator of the panel, replying. “Oh, is that Vegeta? Hi, babe!”
She and co-moderator Mikey McNamara were joined on stage by executive producer Akio Iyoku and beloved Kid Goku VA Stephanie Nadolny where they discussed the series and the late Akira Toriyama’s influence on it.
Toriyama illustrated much of the world and its characters as he was heavily involved in the production. “You can really see his signature style in the artwork,” Iyoku said.
Iyoku spoke of the series’ setting, the Demon Realm. He said it was “specifically designed” for Daima, and showed never-before-seen concept art of the Demon Realm from Toriyama. Designed by Toriyama, front and center is the flying vehicle of the new character Glorio.

Iyoku couldn’t get into too much detail about the new character but did describe him as “mysterious” before Aaron Dismuke was brought on stage and revealed to be the English voice of Glorio. “I auditioned for a few characters, but I wanted Glorio,” he said.
The VA, known for being the voice of Alphonse Elric, was profuse with his praise of the show and beamed with excitement about joining Daima. He also didn’t know Glorio would be coming to the video games, like Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, and was very happy about that. “I get to work more!”
Before the panel concluded, fans participated in a group Kamehameha photo shoot. Attendees were then treated to the first episode of Daima, which Iyoku said “takes all the best parts of Dragon Ball and packs them into one show.”
Dragon Ball Daima premiered last week and will stream on Crunchy Roll and Netflix. The English dub premieres next month with a special theatrical event.
