DOZENS of police officers have swarmed a road close to a Scots prison after a major incident this afternoon.
Emergency services raced to Crosshill Road, near Low Moss Prison, just outside Glasgow, shortly after 2.30pm.
Half a dozen police cars were spotted on the road which leads to the nick in the Bishopbriggs area.
At least four large cars as well as two police vans were seen parked on the narrow road.
A further three vehicles were seen parked in a different nearby street.
Cops appear to be focussing their efforts on a field that sits adjacent to the prison.
Half a dozen officers were seen combing through the field for hours as they investigated the incident.
And vans and cars were also spotted parked in the middle of the field at around 3pm.
It is currently unclear what sparked the major, emergency response.
However, it is understood that it does not relate to an incident inside the nick.
The force has been contacted for comment.
The Scottish Prison Service said the incident is a matter for Police Scotland.
