Trump recalls assassination attempt
“As you already know, the assassin’s bullet came within a quarter of an inch of taking my life,” Donald Trump said.
“So many people have asked me what happened, and therefore, I’ll tell you what happened, and you’ll never hear it from me a second time, because it’s too painful to tell.
Trump describes being hit by the bullet and realizing what it was after staring at his bloody hand.
He praises the Secret Service for their work.
“I felt safe because I had God on my side, the amazing thing is prior to my shot if I had not moved my head at that instant the assassin would have hit his mark and I would not be here tonight.”
Nomination accepted
“I formally accept your nomination for President of the United States,” Donald Trump says.
The crowd chants “Trump” to which the former president replies “Thank you.”
He expresses gratitude and love for the outpouring of support from the American people after the assassination attempt on his life.

He walks to the podium to a thunderous ovation as he mouths “Thank you” to the crowd.
Corey Comperatore’s uniform, the firefighter who died during the rally shooting is rolled out on stage.
He begins his speech by saying “Thank you, thank you very much.”
White praises Donald Trump’s toughness
“I’m in the tough guy business, and this man is the toughest, most resilient human being that I’ve ever met in my life,” White says.
“I know Donald J. Trump is the best choice for the next president of the United States.”
