Karnataka deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday made a sensational claim, saying Kerala tantriks (occultists) were being employed to use black magic against him and chief minister Siddaramaiah by rivals. He alleged that tantriks were being used to carry out “Shatru Bairavi Yaaga” in an isolated place near Raja Rajeshwari temple in Kerala to destabilise the Congress government in Karnataka.
“They are using tantriks to carry out ‘Raja Kantaka’ and ‘Marana Mohana Sthambana’ yaaga. The people who were privy to the black magic rituals have given us all the information about the people behind it,” he alleged
The Karnataka deputy CM who is a big believer and is often seen visiting temples and carrying out various rituals didn’t stop at that. He said that “these yaagas are being conducted through Aghoris and we have information that pancha bali – 21 red goats, 3 buffaloes, 21 black sheep, and 5 pigs – is being carried out for the black magic”.
These allegations have a veiled reference to HD Kumaraswamy and his family. When specifically asked about who was behind it and whether he hinted at the Deve Gowda family including Revanna, DK Shivakumar said, “You must investigate this without trying to get it out from my mouth.”
DK Shivakumar and HD Kumaraswamy have been at loggerheads ever since the Prajwal Revanna sex scandal made it to the headlines. HD Kumaraswamy has accused DKS of orchestrating the release of the obscene videos to finish the Deve Gowda family politically.
“We know who is getting it done. Let them do it. The force will protect me. I only believe in God and I don’t believe in black magic,” said Shivakumar.
HD Deve Gowda’s family including his sons HD Revanna and HD Kumaraswamy have been repeatedly accused of resorting to occult practices to cast bad spells on their opponents. In 2007, at the height of a power-sharing drama between the Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal (Secular), the then chief minister BS Yediyurappa had accused the Gowda family of indulging in black magic to get rid of him.
Just hours after DK Shivakumar made these allegations, Kumarswamy’s team released videos of HDK and his family enjoying a boat ride at a resort in Kabini backwaters in Karnataka.
