DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small’s booking fees spark debate

DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small are making headlines after their alleged booking fees were leaked on X, formerly Twitter.

The duo is affectionately known as Scorpion Kings and has been credited for thrusting the Amapiano genre into the mainstream music industry.

DJ MAPHORISA AND KABZA DE SMALL’S BOOKING FEES SPARK DEBATE

Over the years, they have been busy and booked. They have been winning big since their thrust into the limelight in 2018.

DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small have headlined several shows worldwide and have worked with a host of celebrated stars in the music industry.

Some notable stars who have worked with the duo include Nigerian rapper WizKid and Canadian rapper Drake.

Back home, the two have thrust many Amapiano stars into the limelight, including Young Stunna, Sir Trill, and Daliwonga.

However, after their alleged booking fees were leaked online, the two are making headlines.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter popular user Dr Chauke asked if organisers make money from their shows after coming across DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small’s alleged booking fees.

Dr Chauke shared a screenshot of their alleged booking fees and captioned it, “My question is, the event organisers will make a profit, and by how much?”

Fans quickly tagged some of their favourite artists and producers so that they could share more knowledge about the entertainment industry against the leaked booking fees.

However, little is known about whether or not the alleged booking fees are current. According to the leaked booking fees, the duo charges R200 000 for indoor and R300 000 for outdoor events.

However, these booking fees exclude two five-star hotel suites and nine extra-standard bedrooms. The two also charge R28 000 for transport.

Despite the now-viral post, the duo has not addressed the leaked booking fees. However, a similar rate card went viral.

Over the years, DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small have been accused of skipping gigs despite being booked.

CHARGING MORE MONEY FOR HOSPITALITY AND RIDERS THAN EVENTS

Several promoters often take a swipe at the duo for demanding more money for hospitality and riders than their bookings.

A promoter from Botswana once dragged South African acts for demanding too much money for hospitality and riders rather than events.

Last year, Leko Kenosi said, “We have the Amapiano artists that hardly pitch for events. They complain about flights, they are unprofessional and demand expensive alcohol that costs more than the booking.”

MZANSI REACTS

Against the post, an X user posted, “If you think this is too much, check Eka Zakes.” Another user added, “I’m sure ibhalwe uMaphorisa le quotation.”

Another user at @ntsako_tebu_ commented, “That’s why we buy general tickets for a ridiculous amount these days.”
