Diablo 4 Season Five, the Season of the Infernal Hordes, will be the final season before the Vessel of Hatred expansion drops in October. Players hope that with all the significant changes from Season Four and the ones coming in Season Five, Diablo 4 will feel complete.
It’s no secret that since Diablo 4 launched in mid-2023 the Blizzard action RPG has suffered several less-than-specular updates and seasons. Players went through long phases where they hated looting and many even requested refunds so they could buy Baldur’s Gate 3 during the darker days. Those struggles seem to be behind the mega-sequel though, with ecstatic players now feeling like Diablo 4 on the verge of being “finished” after Season Four’s base content updates and Season Five’s big promises.
Players today agreed these Diablo 4 seasons have been Blizzard’s way of “finally finishing the game” when it comes to core mechanics, integral changes, and balance; the expectation is now that any future tweaks should be minimal at best. Of course, it is a live service game, so it will never truly wrap up—but that’s a good thing.
This hope now leaves Diablo 4 fans eager for the future. There will be changes, they conceded, even in a “finished” game, but everything released after Season Five should be to bolster the completed game, like the upcoming expansion Vessel of Hatred.
There is a little concern brewing that, despite the mega hype around the expansion and the new Spiritborn class, things could actually go down hill from here. Blizzard has done the legwork to build Diablo 4 into its best form, players explained, and now the devs could undo all of the incredible they’ve made over the past few seasons.
While this has been true for similar Blizzard title World of Warcraft, fans said they have faith the Diablo 4 devs won’t make this same mistake. Being a live-service game, Diablo 4 will constantly change and evolve, which can be good or bad, depending on how you look at it. But every season has improved the game to the point where it finally feels complete. Hopefully, it stays this way when the Vessel of Hatred launches.
