The amount is expected to rise as more cash is yet to be counted and officials have got intelligence about more locations where cash has been hidden
As the Income Tax raids in Jharkhand entered day 4 on Saturday, the Bharatiya Janata Party state unit claimed that “over Rs 300 crore cash” had already been allegedly recovered from various premises linked to Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dhiraj Kumar Sahu.
The recovery of the ‘unaccounted cash’ at the Congress leader’s house led to a political slugfest in the state with the saffron party demanding answers from Congress, which has always been under scanner due to the corrupt practices of some of its leaders.
Congress, on the other hand, distanced itself from the issue and said the only person who would and should answer about the large seizure during the raids is MP Dhiraj Sahu.
The BJP also claimed that the cash recovered during Income-Tax raids in the state and neighbouring Odisha was meant for “horse trading and resort politics” in case there was a hung House in Chhattisgarh.
