An Air India flight operating from New Delhi to San Francisco was diverted to Krasnoyarsk International Airport (UNKL) in Russia due to a technical reason on Thursday night.

“Air India flight AI-183 operating Delhi to San Francisco has been diverted to Krasnoyarsk International Airport (UNKL) in Russia due to a technical reason. The aircraft has landed safely and we are working with relevant authorities to ensure guests are taken care of while we decide the next course of action. At Air India, the safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew remain top priority,” Air India said in a statement.

Earlier this month, a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Goa was diverted to Bengaluru in the wee hours of Tuesday due to “poor visibility” at the Manohar International Airport (MIA).

In June 2024, Akasa Air’s Mumbai-bound flight from Delhi was diverted to Ahmedabad after it received a ”security alert”.
