Those operating such X handles across the country are on the radar of Special Cell
Delhi Police’s Special Cell on Sunday informed that it has taken action against individuals responsible for circulating a doctored video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, falsely suggesting his stance on reservations.
The FIR targets certain handles on social media platforms, which edited Shah’s statements to falsely suggest that the minister argued for ending reservations in the country. This action came a day after BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya said that the Telangana Congress wing was spreading an edited video of Shah, “which is completely fake and has the potential to cause large-scale violence.”
‘Fake video on reservation’
Delhi Police’s Special Cell has intensified efforts to track down individuals behind these handles across India. Early arrests are anticipated, with even those who deleted the videos coming under the radar of investigation. In his post on X, Malviya clarified that Home Minister Shah only spoke about removing the unconstitutional reservation given to Muslims, on the basis of religion.

The BJP leader said Shah’s fake video was posted on social media by several Congress spokespersons, including Asma Tasleem. “Home Minister Amit Shah spoke about removing the unconstitutional reservation given to Muslims, on the basis of religion, after reducing share of SCs/STs and OBCs. This fake video has been posted by several Congress spokespersons, including likes of @asmatasleem13 and others. They must be prepared for legal consequences,” Malviya said in a post on April 27.
Earlier, Amit Shah had reportedly said that the 4 percent Muslim reservation in the state was unconstitutional. He promised that if the BJP were voted into power, they would terminate this reservation and allocate it to the SC, ST, and OBCs.
