The Davante Adams to the Jets talk has popped up again, and many Jets fans are anxiously awaiting news of a trade.
They’re going to have to keep waiting.
From the people I have spoken with, it sounds like in this case there is smoke, but no fire. The smoke has come from Aaron Rodgers and Adams publicly flirting in interviews, but there does not seem to be any real chance the Raiders are going to trade Adams to the Jets before the season starts.
I have been puzzled at how much traction the trade talk has gotten recently. Perhaps it is a fun way to fill the dead time in the NFL, but the idea of an Adams trade right now makes no sense for either side.
