Kannada film actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has been arrested in connection with a murder case, according to police sources quoted by PTI. The 47-year-old was detained from a hotel in Mysuru in relation to the death of Renuka Swamy, whose body was found on June 9 in the Kamakshipalya area.Renuka Swamy, an employee at a pharmacy company and a resident of Chitradurga, was reportedly killed and his body discarded in a stormwater drain. Authorities believe that derogatory comments made by Swamy on social media against a film actress may have led to his murder.
The incident came to light when local residents informed the police about the body. Following the discovery, an autopsy confirmed Swamy’s death was a result of murder.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of several suspects. “Based on their statement, police detained Darshan,” police sources said. The authorities are now looking into whether Darshan was directly involved in the murder or if he played a role in the conspiracy.
In response to the arrest, police have increased security at Darshan’s residence in RR Nagar to maintain order and ensure safety. Further updates will follow as the investigation progresses.
