A former Nevada Republican congressional candidate who was endorsed by President Donald Trump is wanted by police in relation to the murder of a man in a Las Vegas hotel.
An arrest warrant was issued for 45-year-old politician and former WWE wrestler Daniel Rodimer on Wednesday over an Oct. 29, 2023 incident where 47-year-old Christopher Tapp was found dead in Resorts World Las Vegas. Coroners ruled Tapp’s death a homicide from blunt force trauma.
According to 8 News Now, the two men “knew each other through the classic car and racing circuit,” and Tapp had spent 20 years in prison on charges of murder and rape, before being released in 2019 after the conviction was vacated.
Rodimer was backed by Trump during the 2020 election, with the then-president giving Rodimer his “Complete and Total Endorsement.”
“@DanRodimer will be an incredible Congressman for Nevada!” wrote Trump on social media at the time. “A former professional wrestler, he will fight for Lower Taxes, Better Education and More Jobs, and he will always support our Brave Law Enforcement. Dan has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”
During a 2020 campaign rally, Trump added, “Dan Rodimer. We’re with you all the way, Dan.”
However, Rodimer ultimately went on to lose the race against Rep. Susie Lee (D-NV).
In 2021, Rodimer ran for Congress again, this time in Texas, under the slogan, “Make America Texas Again.”
Rodimer’s Texas campaign made headlines after it was rebuked by Team Trump for falsely implying that the 2021 campaign had also received the former president’s blessing.
