Daler Mehndi on Being Angry With Diljit Dosanjh’s Decision to Remove ‘Pagg’ For Chamkila

Daler Mehndi expressed his anger upon seeing Diljit, who had never removed his turban for any film or music video before, did so for the first time. Speaking to us, the singer said,  “Jab maine Chamkila dekhi aur Diljit ko turban ke bina dekha, to mujhe bahut gussa aya, kyunki dedicated rehna chahiye bande ko. Hamari bhi ek badi movie aa rahi hai, usmain humne kabhi turban nhi utari, chahe main bhi kuch kardu. Jo Rab ne sardari bakshi hai, uske samne role choti-moti baatein hoti hai. Rab unhe khushi de” (When I watched Chamkila and saw Diljit without his turban, I felt very angry because one should remain dedicated. I also have a big movie coming up, and I have never removed my turban, even If I have to do something. What God has bestowed upon us in terms of our turban is a minor detail compared to the role. May God give him happiness.)

Daler Mehndi also recalled his first encounter with Diljit Dosanjh five years ago at a hotel. “When I went outside, I felt like I had seen him (Diljit) before. He was wearing a cap, and I assumed that if he is familiar actor, he would definitely recognize me. However, he just walked past without acknowledging me. Main toh turban pehni thi, unhone cap pehni thi, aisa toh nhi hai ki vo mujhe na pehchane, par vo nikal gaye.” He further added, “Later, when I listened to his music, I was very impressed. May god grant him more success.”

On the professional front, Daler Mehndi’s latest track Ankhiyan Te Ja Ladiyan has released on July 25. This extraordinary track marks a groundbreaking collaboration with the doyens of Qawwali singers – Ustad Sher Ali and Ustad Mehr Ali, promising a foot-tapping, rustic, and robust Bhangra Dhamaal infused with Balochi nuances and the classical Dhamaal with Siraiki singing.
